You’ll want to repeat this creamy soy ginger sauce and dip everything in it! It’s easy and addictive, and you can whip it up in 5 minutes!
Is there anything more satisfying than slam-dunking a potsticker into a delicious sauce and taking that first bite? I think not, and these crispy dumplings with my creamy soy ginger dipping sauce are a family favorite. Although we love them with potstickers, this is one of those sauce recipes you’ll want to make a triple batch of because it’s delicious as a sauce, dip, and dressing!
When it comes to making homemade potstickers, I’ll pass. I’ve made them, and it’s a tedious, time-consuming process. Why put yourself through that when there are so many great brands at the supermarket? You can’t have potstickers without a killer sauce, and my soy ginger sauce is creamy, delicious, and perfect for dunking! The sauce has the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory. It’s just so dang good! I make a batch of this a few times a month, and we eat it on so many things! I’ll give you some ideas below!
Creamy Soy Ginger Sauce
Why We Love It
- Delicious. This is one of those sauces you want to eat with a spoon.
- Versatile. Don’t stop at potstickers. It’s delicious on noodles, bowls, and more.
- Healthy. There are plenty of Asian sauces on the market, but many of them contain questionable ingredients and excessive sugar. This sauce is one you can feel good about eating.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Mayonnaise. It’s creamy, rich, and the perfect base for our sauce. It also goes great with Asian flavors!
- Ginger. Fresh ginger works best, and it’s what gives the sauce its pizzazz!
- Soy sauce. Low-sodium soy sauce adds plenty of salt, and any brand will work.
- Toasted sesame oil. This adds a rich, nutty flavor to the sauce, and a little goes a long way.
- Sriracha. A little Sriracha adds depth of flavor with a bit of heat.
- Honey. A touch of honey helps balance out all the flavors.
- Lime juice. This brightens up the sauce and adds a little tang.
Pro tip. If you follow a gluten-free diet, look for gluten-free tamari rather than soy sauce. I prefer this over coconut aminos, which I think taste terrible. Gluten-free tamari is the perfect substitution for soy sauce, and there are also low-sodium varieties.

How to Make Creamy Soy Ginger Sauce
- Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and whisk until smooth.
Pro tip. The best way to grate your ginger is to use a small, handheld grater. I like to grate an entire knob at once and then pack it into small silicone ice cube containers. It works perfectly in recipes like this.
Helpful Tips
- Good-quality mayonnaise is essential for my soy ginger sauce to be rich and creamy. It’s the base of the sauce, and if you don’t like the way the mayonnaise tastes, you won’t like the sauce. I recommend Dukes or Kewpie mayonnaise .
- Adjust to taste. Start with the listed measurements and then adjust them to your liking. If you like things a little more spicy, add more Sriracha. If you like a little more sweetness, add more honey.
- Go slow with sesame oil. It’s an acquired taste, and toasted sesame oil has a more robust flavor. If you’re unsure whether you like it, you might want to start with even less than what I have listed and add more to taste.
Serving Suggestions
- Drizzle over fried rice, protein bowls, or rice bowls!
- Serve as a dipping sauce for egg rolls, potstickers, and chicken wings!
- Toss freshly cooked rice noodles with a little sauce and your favorite Asian veggies!
- Shrimp tacos are delicious, with the sauce served over the top!
Storage
- This can be stored in an air kite container and kept in the refrigerator for up to five days.
