Disney World at Christmas is pure holiday magic. The moment you enter, you’re surrounded by twinkling lights, festive music, holiday smells, and that signature Disney magic that makes you feel like a kid again. From the breathtaking Christmas tree on Main Street, U.S.A., festive parades and shows, to the hugely popular Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs, every inch of the parks and resorts is transformed. Everyone should experience a Disney Christmas at least once!

Whether you’re planning to spend Christmas Day at Walt Disney World or visit earlier in the season, there are plenty of ways to celebrate. From the dazzling Disney Christmas Party to even doing a little Christmas shopping at Disney Springs, holiday magic is all around you.

As we mentioned in this post, if you want to experience Disney World at Christmas, you don’t have to go in December. Right after Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Disney literally transforms most of the property overnight. It’s amazing! If you love visiting Disney at Christmas, whether you’re a regular visitor or this is your first time, you should always prioritize new seasonal experiences because they may never come back.

What’s new for 2026?

• Starting November 4, 2026, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will feature its new “Obligatory Holiday Overlay.” The Electric Mayhem will rock out to festive tracks like Holiday Road with Kermit and Fozzie, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) with Jennifer Hudson, Silver Bells with Cyndi Lauper, and Little Saint Nick.

• From November 25, 2026, through January 6, 2027, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will feature a special holiday soundtrack. You will blast off into space while listening to seasonal hits like It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24, and Christmas Wrapping.

• The EPCOT Candlelight Processional returns from November 27 through December 30, 2026, with an incredible lineup of celebrity narrators. This year features favorites and new faces like Jason Kelce, Whoopi Goldberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Groban, Gary Sinise, Robin Roberts, Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, and Eva Longoria.

• Hallmark Holiday Pop-Up Shop at Disney Springs: A brand-new limited-time Hallmark pop-up store brings exclusive holiday ornaments, greeting cards, and Disney-themed gifts to Disney Springs. This will be listed on the Disney Springs events page in the sidebar.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates?

• It wouldn’t be Christmas at Disney World without Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a ticketed event at Magic Kingdom on select nights, running from November 8th through December 22nd, 2026. With admission, guests enjoy a night of Yuletide shows and dance parties, meet-and-greets with favorite Disney characters in their best holiday outfits, event-exclusive parades and fireworks shows, and unlimited cookies and hot chocolate. And, of course, you can still enjoy all the rides!

Is Disney World Open On Christmas Day?

When does Disney World decorate for Christmas?

• Magic Kingdom is transformed first, literally overnight, as soon as the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Christmas Party ends. Typically, by November 2, the park has become a Christmas wonderland. Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are usually fully decorated by November 6th. Epcot and the resorts are decorated through the second week of November. This year, the official kick-off date of the Christmas season at Disney World is November 13th.

When does Disney take down Christmas decorations?

• Typically, Disney takes down Christmas decorations the week after New Year’s. Expect all holiday decorations to be removed by Walt Disney World Marathon weekend, hosted next year from January 6 to 10, 2027.

What are the busiest times at Disney World during the holidays?

Best time to visit Disney World during the holidays?

• The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is fantastic (and when we’re going this year). It’s the calm after the Thanksgiving storm and before the December storm period. In fact, this was my family’s favorite time to go for years. Bonus. The weather is perfect!

Does Disney World have a Christmas parade?

• Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is the flagship Magic Kingdom event featuring marching toy soldiers and Santa Claus. From early November through December 22, it runs exclusively during the ticketed Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights, then switches to a normal daytime schedule for all park guests from December 23 through December 31.

Are there Disney Christmas shows?

• Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show at Magic Kingdom is part of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, running on select nights from November 8th through December 22nd, 2026. Check the current Disney fireworks schedule here or in the My Disney Experience app.

• JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season: An uplifting, high-energy musical performance at CommuniCore Plaza showcasing Gospel, R&B, and soul holiday music in honor of Christmas and Kwanzaa. (Included with admission)

• World Showcase Holiday Storytellers: A series of mini-shows across the World Showcase pavilions where cultural performers and legendary holiday figures (like France’s Père Noël or Italy’s La Befana) share local global holiday traditions. (Included with admission).

• Exclusive to Disney Jollywood Nights (a separately ticketed event), Disney Holidays in Hollywood: A glamorous, star-studded variety stage show hosted by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, featuring festive song-and-dance numbers alongside appearances by Mickey, Minnie, and Tiana.

• Sunset Seasons Greetings: A continuous evening projection show where the Hollywood Tower Hotel turns into various snowy backdrops, accompanied by holiday laser effects.

• Hollywood Studios’ First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration gets an exclusive festive upgrade. At the end of the traditional show, Olaf takes the stage alongside Anna and Elsa for a special five-minute winter finale.

• Tree of Life Awakenings (Holiday Edition): Once the sun sets, the iconic centerpiece tree periodically flickers to life with colorful projections of wintry animal stories, set to a serene holiday musical score. (Included with admission).

Ho, ho, ho! Santa Claus travels to all four theme parks and Disney Springs during the Christmas season at Walt Disney World. You can find him at:
