Disney World in March welcomes warmer weather and Spring Break! Although this month is crowded, there is a lot to see and do. Let’s dive in!
In this post, we discuss visiting Disney World in March, covering everything from weather to events to crowd levels—plus personal tips and tricks we have learned over the years. March is a favorite for many vacationers – those needing a change of scenery from the winter blues, beautiful weather (fair temperatures and little to no rain!), and EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival. But the number one reason? Spring break!
As always, we can hardly keep up with Disney’s changes, but we try our best to update these posts. If we missed something, please comment and we will fix it ASAP!
Weather At Disney World in March
Although the crowds may be high, the temperature isn’t! March boasts beautiful weather, with temps ranging from 56 – 79F. Plus, the rain is minimal and there is no concern for hurricanes.
That being said, Florida weather can be unpredictable. We suggest wearing layers to combat any sudden temperature changes. This is especially helpful for chilly mornings or evenings that you could experience while visiting Disney World in March!
Also, although not as common in the fall, you still may want to be prepared for rain! Packing a disposable poncho is a quick fix for a sporadic Florida shower. If you forgot your Disney raincoat and you see storm crowds on the horizon, duck into stores and under awnings for coverage! But our best tip for fluctuating weather is to be like Elsa and “let it go.” 🙂
Crowds at Disney World in March
There is no need to sugarcoat it: March is BUSY. In fact, as a whole, it is considered one of the busiest months of the entire year. And the reason is simple: spring break. Due to the varying spring break times across school districts, March stays busy. That nice weather we discussed earlier attracts visitors as well. You might have a slightly slower day here and there, but they are rare and unpredictable.
In addition to the fair weather and spring break, Mardi Gras attracts visitors too. This year, Mardi Gras falls on March 4th, making the whole week of March 1-7 more crowded. But hey! – Mardi Gras brings the festivities at Walt Disney World, a plus for those visiting this month. One fun example is the cast-designed golf cart parade between Port Orleans Riverside and the French Quarter. Guests may also be treated to surprise character meet and greets, decorated river boats, and New Orleans-themed food and merchandise. Although nothing officially has been announced yet, watch the Disney Parks Blog for updates. Lastly, if staying on property during Mardi Gras week, check out your hotel’s posted recreation activities for fun, themed activities.
Youth Sports Championships At Disney World
On top of all that, Disney World in March sees a massive influx of visitors due to the many competitive youth sports championships in the Orlando area. These groups love to stay and play at Walt Disney World during their off days. And boy, you can NOT miss them – they love to travel the parks and resorts in large groups, donning matching gear and peppy energy.
One last thing to note: Walt Disney World Annual Passes will be blocked out March 15-23, 2025. In years past, this resulted in an uptick in local visitors just before the block-out dates. We expect the same for this year, from around Sunday, March 9th to Friday, March 14th, 2025.
